As companies are making steps to go green. Hedley is well equipped to design and build hydraulic systems for the emerging Hydrogen industry and the automotive industry. Hydrogen is being used in the automotive industry to power cars. Cars have been powered by fossil fuels for years, but this is unsustainable in the future and new innovations are being made.
The use of hydrogen is an option. The technology involves the electrical energy being generated from a single fuel cell. The common abbreviation is FCEV, short for ‘Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle’. There are definite positives, fewer pollutants and less noise.
The fundamentals of how the fuel cell works is that hydrogen in a tank is passed through the fuel cell and reverse electrolysis occurs when the hydrogen reacts with the oxygen in the fuel cell. The results are electrical energy, heat and water. The water is just emitted through the exhaust as vapor. Which means the cars are emissions free. There is a car battery which is constantly recharged and is able to store energy needed for the engine.
