Our customer in the leisure industry required us to design, fabricate, install and commission a hydraulic power unit and through the wall cylinders. Some of the key requirements for the customer were the quality of the job and the efficiency of future maintenance, so these aspects were carefully planned from the initial design right through to operation.
The hydraulic system facilitates the controlled movement of a swimming pool floor so the depth of the pool can be adjusted in a diving pool. Swimming pools are very expensive to operate. So the owners plan the use of the facilities to maximise their potential and elevate revenue options. So for example the pool depth can be adjusted so that the owners can have a full timetable for multiple use of the pool for example; 5 meter depth for diving, two meters for lane swimming, 1.40 meters for aqua aerobics or aqua zumba, toddler class 0.2-0.6 meters for water familiarisation, learning to swim for small children 0.6 – 0.8 meters, life saving skills 1.8 meters, use by a person with a disability 1.2 meters +, synchronised swimming 2 meters, water polo 2 meters and so on. This allows inclusivity and safety for varying swimming abilities and means the entire pool can be used at each session.
A full programme in one pool allows energy costs to be reduced, building areas are minimised and occupancy is increased. To facilitate this project our engineers had to overcome working in a confined space, but our skilled engineers worked around this and successfully delivered a ‘turnkey’ hydraulic precision engineering solution from design right through to commissioning.
